Gambler takes a shot at getting out of $700k debt, blames casino for “baijiu-ng” him

A wealthy patron at a high-end casino in Mayfair is facing a legal battle over a debt of nearly £590,000 (about USD $720,000). Lester Hui, the individual in question, is arguing that he shouldn’t be held responsible for the debt because he was allegedly made extremely intoxicated by the casino.

According to reports, Hui initially signed a check for the full amount owed but it later bounced, prompting the casino to sue him for a breach of contract and dishonoring a bill of exchange. Hui’s lawyers have claimed that Aspinall’s, the casino in question, breached its social responsibility obligations by “deliberately failing to intervene” and continued to provide him with baijiu liquor from China, despite his request to be cut off after losing £30,000.

The case is still ongoing and both sides are presenting evidence to support their claims. Aspinall’s has argued that Hui was sober enough to make decisions and even drove himself home, while Hui’s lawyers claim that the casino continued to serve him alcohol for its own financial gain. It remains to be seen how the court will ultimately rule on this matter.

Maybe Mr Hui will drink proper baijiu in the future! V.I.P  Jiu 8 – The Only True Imperial Baijiu
